G-CAN support of the COVID-19 Global Rheumatology Registry
In response to the evolving global COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, a secure, de-identified, international case-reporting registry has been created by the global rheumatology community. The COVID-19 Global Rheumatology Alliance Registry will collect data on rheumatology patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. Providers can go to the site and report cases of COVID-19 in rheumatology patients with gout and crystal arthropathy, including those with mild or no symptoms.
The registry was formed with the goal of rapidly curating and disseminating accurate, timely, evidence-based information to the community of rheumatology providers and patients. “It is our hope that the information collected will help guide rheumatology clinicians in assessing and treating patients with rheumatologic disease and in evaluating the risk of infection in patients on immunosuppression,” said Philip Robinson, MD, Rheumatologist at Royal Brisbane Hospital in Queensland Australia.
Dr. Robinson is a member of the registry steering committee, and also a G-CAN member. G-CAN is one of the registry sponsors. Further details are available on that registry’s website but with information to hand it shouldn’t take more than 5-10 minutes to input information on a patient. There is also the option of returning at a later time and providing further information, finishing an application or providing outcome details for a case that was entered with an unresolved outcome.
